Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apple juice. Compared to white distilled vinegar, ACV is a little sweeter. This type of vinegar has so many health benefits, even though there are several of them that science has not proven yet. For instance, it doesn’t contain as much fiber as other articles may claim. It shouldn’t be used as a cure-all for health conditions.

This doesn’t mean though that apple cider vinegar is useless. It does help in absorbing the nutrients you get from your food. More research is needed whether it is better to consume the vinegar raw or add it to other dishes. You probably heard about drinking vinegar to burn belly fat, but whatever your purpose in drinking the vinegar may be, here are three things you should know about when consuming the sour liquid:

1. Drink it after a meal.

You may have heard about drinking apple cider vinegar before you have anything, including water. Some people have sensitive stomachs, so this isn’t advised as queasiness may result. Instead, drink the vinegar after you’ve had your meal to avoid feeling nauseous.

2. It can be useful as a natural laxative.

If you’re outside, downing the vinegar can become a problem since it can help things get moving. It can act as a laxative, so if you’re constipated, the liquid can definitely work for you.

3. You could burn your throat while drinking.

It can be painful if you drink vinegar straight. Instead, mix a tablespoon of this kitchen ingredient with a glass of water (eight ounces). Drink it with a straw, which will help reduce contact with your tongue and throat, making it more tolerable to down the liquid.

Although some health experts may not agree that ACV is nutritious, there are proven benefits of consuming it, including:

  • Its acetic acid can help with fighting bacteria. In fact, acetic acid is an antiseptic that is used to stop bacteria including streptococci and staphylococci.
  • It has been proven that apple cider vinegar is effective in helping patients with type 2 diabetes to manage their health condition by lowering blood sugar levels from four to 34%.

It should be understood that apple cider vinegar is definitely a dietary panacea, but you can add it to your healthy diet. It is free from fat and only has a few calories. Instead of a fatty salad dressing, use ACV instead.
