If you’ve wondered how often you to need to wash your hair, you’re not alone. The question is quite vexing as it sparks debate even among hair experts. But Alli Webb, the founder of Drybar, the favorite spot for hairstyling services, shared her answer to the infamous question.
According to Alli, you don’t have to wash your hair every day. In fact, you should only wash it twice to thrice a week, so as not to remove the natural oils in your hair. Washing your hair only requires four steps:
- Get your hair thoroughly wet.
- Use shampoo and lightly and quickly rub it onto your scalp.
- Rinse shampoo well.
- Repeat the process.
The reason why you need to repeat the process is because there is a chance that your hair is extremely dirty since you only wash it two to three times a week. Choosing the right shampoo is also essential. If you have dry hair and scalp, use a moisturizing shampoo. For those with oily hair, use a cleansing shampoo. Condition your hair right after shampooing. If you have really fine hair, it is advised that you apply conditioner from the mid-shaft to the ends only.
