Being sick is not something enjoyable. In fact, you feel helpless and all you want to do is just stay in bed. The last thing you might think of is to cook and eat some food. You probably believe you don’t need food when you don’t feel well, but this idea is wrong. When you’re sick, your body spends energy, so you will be healthy again. This is why you need the following foods to help your body heal:
Ginger ale is quite common for those who don’t feel well because this spice has anti-nausea properties. Plus, it helps get rid of bloating and constipation.
Soups, particularly broth-based soup, can help you fight cold away. Chicken noodle soup is quite effective because the main ingredient has cysteine, an amino acid that thins out mucus in your lungs. Additionally, the hot broth will prevent dehydration, get rid of throat inflammation, and keep your nasal passages damp.
3. Spicy Foods
Whether or not you are a fan of spicy foods, these are natural decongestants, so start eating wasabi, horseradish, or some chili peppers to relieve congestion symptoms.
Plain, unsalted crackers are preferred if you want to feel better when you’re sick. Since they are bland, they will go easy on your stomach. Although they are high in starch, you shouldn’t worry because they can actually help stabilize your stomach, so you don’t vomit. You can also try toasts as an alternative.

Popsicles, preferably those made from real fruit juice, can help relieve chest cold and congestion. They are also a great way to stay hydrated, but make sure you don’t replace fruits with popsicles.
This fruit has high potassium content and can easily be digested. Consuming more bananas can help lower your temperature and even replenish all the electrolytes you may have lost if you have bouts of diarrhea or vomiting.

You may have heard about citrus fruits as the best way to treat common cold. Unfortunately, this remains to be a myth. This does not mean though that you shouldn’t consume them if you’re sick. In fact, the soft white layer of skin on citrus fruits, such as grapefruits, limes, lemons, and oranges have flavonoids that boost immune system and encourage the body to recover speedily.

11. Sugary and Fatty Foods
Sugary foods can weaken the immune system. They can also cause inflammation, which you surely don’t want when you’re already sick. Fatty foods, on the other hand, are not kind to your stomach. They often result to stomach pains because they are difficult to digest.
