Losing weight, unfortunately, isn’t as easy as 1-2-3, especially if your goal is to get rid of 20 pounds in just a week. But this does not mean it is impossible. As long as you stay on a strict diet and you don’t skip your workout routines, you will get there.
There’s no denying that 20 pounds in seven days is intimidating. You could be tempted to try ways to lose weight that are not good for the body. You don’t have to starve yourself or go through something very drastic to achieve your goal. Here are some tips on how you can reach your desired weight without worrying about your health:
It is important you understand 20 pounds in a week can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Even professionals such as UFC fighters before a weigh-in can go wrong, exposing their bodies to harm. There is no shortcut to losing weight because it does take a lot of hard work and sacrifice.
2. Water Consumption
Now, the first thing you have to physically commit yourself to is to control your water consumption. Taking the example above, here is what a typical UFC fighter would do if he wants to stay in his weight goal by the time of the weigh-in:
- Sunday – Two gallons of water
- Monday – One gallon of water
- Tuesday and Wednesday – Same as Monday
- Thursday – Five gallons of water
- Friday –25 gallons of water
- Saturday (day of the weigh-in) – No water until after the event of weighing in
It is difficult to control water intake, but this technique enables the body to enter its “flushing mode.” This means that the body will continue to remove water weight even if there is not a lot of water in the system.
To reduce your weight by 20 pounds within a week, you should not eat more than 50 grams of carbohydrates every day. This is because one gram of carb is equivalent to 2.7 grams of water.
4. What Not to Eat
You will have a lot of foods to avoid if you really want to lose weight. However, you can keep the list short by remembering not to eat fruits, salty and starchy foods, and anything with sugar.
5. What to Eat
Instead of the foods above, go for those that are rich in fat and protein. Eat more leafy vegetables and cruciferous veggies as well.
To increase water reduction that can cause you to bloat, go for natural diuretics instead of over-the-counter pills. Dandelion leaf is a great example, but don’t use this remedy until the last two days toward your goal.
