Eat Chocolates the Right Way
Most people love chocolates and it’s not a sin if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. Bonnie Taub-Dix has a piece of advice though. Instead of eating a chocolate bar as is, do this:
- Add some dried fruits
- Get some unsalted nuts
- Enjoy your chocolate
This trick will actually add healthy fats and protein to your snack. Plus, you don’t eat too much of the chocolate. Don’t forget that the chocolate should be of the dark variety.
Replace Butter with Avocado
You can get the same effect as with butter if you choose avocado over it. This can work in baked goods where you can substitute two tablespoons of butter for the same amount of mashed avocado. Doing so can actually give you less calories – up to 154 calories – and also reduce the saturated fat content up to about 15 grams.
Choose Your Cheese
If you love cheese, you should know which one to pick. Out of all the several cheese varieties, one stands out in the realm of healthy foods and that is cottage cheese. Most foods though have ricotta or other full-fat cheeses. Instead of adding these calorie and salt-laden cheeses, choose cottage cheese due to the following reasons:
- Low in fat
- Low in calories
- Has plenty of calcium
- Contains protein
- Also, it tastes good and adds flavor to your dishes.
What these tips show is that you do not have to give up on foods that you love to eat; you just need to make the right choices. Swapping a few ingredients can already make your food healthier and can even help you trim some fat.
