Cold and cough are simple ailments that we could get from time to time. Most of us just ignore them and wait for them to go away. However, there are times when they could last for a long time and ignoring them is unacceptable as they can turn into something dangerous.
Additionally, dry cough is annoying, not only to you but those around you. While you can just seek help in medications from pharmacies, you can actually cure it with just natural ingredients.
Why Cough Syrups Aren’t Good for You
The main job of cough syrups is to suppress transmission of symptoms to the brain. Most of them even contain dextromethorphan and codeine, which are two ingredients that stop the brain from receiving signals that induce cough and eventually make you feel sleepy. They have negative side effects as well, including increased heart rate and headaches.
Instead of taking cough syrups and other types of medication, you can cure your cough and cold without ingesting unwanted chemicals. Honey wraps are a recommended treatment for your problem. Aside from the fact that it is effective, honey is also one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Because it contains health properties, honey can easily fight both flu and common cold, along with chronic cough. There are even testimonies that honey, particularly through the use of honey wraps, can remove mucus in the lungs. Best of all, this treatment is great, not only for adults, but also for kids.
How to Make Honey Wraps
To begin, you will need the following ingredients:
- Band-Aid or adhesive tape
- Olive oil
- Gauze or cheesecloth
With the ingredients above ready, here’s what you need to do:
- Mix flour and honey until the mixture isn’t as sticky as it was before. This combination is for the compress.
- Add a bit of olive oil into the mixture.
- Get the napkin.
- Place the mixture above and add a little bit of flour again.

You can now use the honey wrap. To use it, simply attach on your back or your chest. You can use the adhesive tape or the Band-Aid. If you’re going to use the honey wrap on your kid, you should place it on their back or chest three hours before they go to bed and make sure you remove it after the mentioned period.
