If you have to go to the bathroom all the time or you have accidents, there could be a problem with your bladder and you shouldn’t ignore this. The same thing goes to several other urinary problems, which involve color and smell. If you think there could be something wrong, it is time to look at your urine before you flush and watch out for the following signs:
If a woman is peeing more than she used to, it is time to use a pregnancy test kit. Peeing more frequently is a sign that you are pregnant because of the hormonal changes in the body. Meanwhile, if you are a man or you are sure you can’t be pregnant, this may be due to drinking more coffee and alcohol. If you don’t consume caffeinated drinks or even alcohol, it is time to consult your doctor as this may be a sign that you have a tumor or diabetes.
There could also be times when you have the urge to urinate just after you have used the restroom. This is something that you should not ignore, especially if you only urinate small amounts every time. These are symptoms that show you may have an infection in the bladder known as cystitis or interstitial cystitis if it’s an irritation of the bladder. Kidney stones have similar symptoms, particularly if they are stuck in your bladder.
Sweet-smelling urine is not something to be proud about. It has nothing to do with what you ate for dessert, but is actually used as an indicator for diabetes. Additionally, when a diabetic patient who urinates with a sweet scent shows that blood sugar is not at its recommended level.
On the other hand, if you have foul-smelling urine, it could mean there is something wrong with your bladder – possibly an infection.
When your urine is cloudy, it may be a signal that you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). If you ate blackberries and beets, these could affect the color of your urine. However, if you didn’t consume any strong hued vegetables and your urine looks like there is blood, this is obviously something to be worried about. There are some cases in which this is an indication there is bladder or kidney cancer.
If you feel that you have to pee but you couldn’t, this is a classic sign that you have UTI. This happens because the lining of the urethra and bladder becomes irritated and inflamed. As a result, you feel that you need to go all the time.
Another sign of UTI is when you feel a burning sensation whenever you pee. Unfortunately, this could also mean you have a sexually transmitted disease (STD), which may be gonorrhea or chlamydia.
