When we think about any chronic disease, we’d probably check for our blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and the like. Our mouths are the last place we’d inspect if we think we could be suffering from a health issue. However, science has proven that there are things about your health that your teeth can provide information for.
You might think your yellow teeth are normal. This could be a sign that you are drinking too much caffeine, wine, or other drinks that stain the teeth. You can solve the problem by visiting your dentist or just use some whitening strips or toothpaste.
However, if your teeth are brown or have stripes of stains, this can be due to tetracycline antibiotics or from other medications. You may need to have your dentist perform cosmetic procedures to remove these marks.
Sudden Change in Teeth Appearance
This includes your teeth becoming crooked all of a sudden, which is something to be worried about. You could have periodontal disease, a bone loss issue that affects your teeth and jaw. Crooked teeth can become loose if you don’t take care of your mouth from now on.
Make sure that you clean your teeth properly, which includes the following steps:
- Brush your teeth twice a day
- Floss every day
- Visit your dentist twice a year
If you don’t follow the abovementioned steps, bacteria could accumulate in the teeth, resulting to plaque. Continue this poor dental habit and you will get tartar, which is hardened plaque. Tartar can spread to the gums and can take over the bones around your mouth. If you have suddenly crooked teeth, visit your dentist as soon as possible.
If a tooth or more is throbbing, you don’t have to be worried if it only lasts a maximum of two days. However, if it continues for a week or more, this may be due to teeth clenching or grinding that you may not be aware of. This usually happens at night when you are asleep. You can use a night guard to solve the problem.
If the pain persists, visit the dentist as this can be a sign of an abscessed tooth, which means it has a root infection.
You need to follow your dentist’s orders by brushing your teeth and flossing every day. Keep mouth bacteria away, which can actually affect your heart if you don’t change your poor mouth hygiene.
