Tea is #2 (water is #1) when it comes to the most consumed liquids in the world. It’s really easy now to make a cup of tea because disposable tea bags were invented. Many people, after using the tea bags, throw them in the garbage. But there are some who are aware about the beauty uses of the tea bags, such as in reducing eye puffiness and treating dark circles under the eyes. Apart from these beauty uses though, there are more ways to use the tea bags before you decide to get rid of them:

1: Meat Tenderizer

The tannins in tea can soften the tough meat cuts. You can even marinate meat using black tea if you want. Aside from making it juicer and more tender, the meat takes a different yet very delicious flavor.

2. Fridge Deodorizer

Used tea bags can mask the bad odor of your fridge. One way is to simply place three to four tea bags in the fridge. Another is to brew tea and just place the cup in the refrigerator.

3. Compost Pile Enhancer

The tea bags can speed up the process of decomposition and even enhance the compost. With the nutrients, along with tea’s tannic acid, solid quality, oxygenation, and even root systems are all enriched. Just cut the tea bag and sprinkle it all over the soil.

Tea bags are really versatile as they can also be used in cooking. Don’t worry about overpowering your dishes because they have a subtle flavor. Plus, they contain nutrients that can improve the health benefits of your food. One good way to use the tea bags for cooking is for adding flavor to grains or oats. To do this, follow the instructions below:

  • In a pan with water, steep two used tea bags of any type of tea, but preferably chamomile, green, or jasmine for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bags and use the water for boiling your oats, rice, or pasta.
  • Cook your dishes as normal.

5. Dish Cleaner

Tea bags can also remove the grease in your dirty dishes, thanks to the tea’s tannins. And because tea can also deodorize, using it for washing your dishes can give them a fresher smell. Simply soak the dishes in warm water and place the tea bags there for at least an hour. If there’s too much grease, soak overnight. After that, you can wash your dishes and you don’t have to scrub them.

Tea has antioxidant, antimicrobial, and astringent properties, making the tea bags an excellent all-around item in your house, even for cleaning.
