Sex is healthy. It has a lot of health benefits on top of emotional connection that you can build with your partner. So it is completely understandable and logical if you want more of it. But sometimes the usual turn-ons for or your partner may stop working. And this is only natural according to Irwin Goldstein, MD, director of sexual medicine at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego.

And when that happens, it’s time to check some libido boosting tips to spice up that special time.

Formula of Fear and Scare

A study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior revealed that men and women find the opposite sex more alluring and attractive after an adrenaline rush. And a good way to get adrenaline rush is by inducing your flight or fight response: adrenaline-pumping situation or activity ranging from watching a film or going sky-diving.

Cindy Meston, PhD, author of Why Women Have Sex explained the concept clearly: When you’re doing something exciting, your heart is racing and your nervous system is activated, much like they would be if you were sexually aroused.

Go for Red Wine

Not all wines are created equal and according to a research, red wine offers the best libido boosting effect. The Journal of Sexual Medicine wrote that women who drank a glass of red daily reported higher levels of sexual desire and vaginal lubrication, compared with those who sipped any kind of alcohol only occasionally or those who didn’t drink at all.

Why is this so? It is in the red wine’s level antioxidant polyphenols. It widens blood vessels which in turns improve blood flow to those erogenous zones. A glass would be enough.

Make Your Partner Wear Red

It doesn’t get any simpler than this. The color red can set you in the mood, and it is backed by research. University of Rochester study strengthened this idea when they found out that it literally turns women on. Andrew J. Elliot, PhD, psychology professor and lead author of the study wrote that “red is a signal of status and power, and that turns women on.”

Stretch and Pose

Do yoga, even not on a regular basis. A few so-called rounds of stretches and yoga positions can boost your libido too according to the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy. Yoga also makes you more familiar with your own body which increases your overall sexuality. It can also improve orgasm by increasing blood flow in you know where.

Use Those Hands

Using your hands can improve your libido, of course you know that. But there’s another angle to it and we’re talking about a different use of your hands. Locking fingers as in holding hands is sweet and can specifically release oxytocin, a special hormone that causes happiness. It is the so-called love hormone for a reason.
