Most of us think that some activities are boring without soda. Whether it’s watching a movie at the theater or simply dining out with friends, sipping on ice cold coke is the way to go. But it’s time to face the facts.
Having this kind of thinking means that you’re addicted to soda, which is mainly due to its high sugar content. This addiction is just the same as with drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. We do feel good whenever we drink soda, but it can harm our body in the future.
More and more studies show that soda has ill effects on the human body – and even the environment. And therefore, it is time for you to limit your consumption of this sugar-loaded poison. Once you stop drinking soda, your body will experience the following changes:
1) You’ll be in control of your hunger.
Because of the High Fructose Corn Syrup in sodas, we feel hungry faster than normal. This can obviously cause weight gain. It does not matter if the soda is labeled “diet” because your body will be used to this kind of sweet taste and therefore you’ll be craving for more. Avoiding sodas can stop these cravings, so you don’t go searching for snacks, especially after a meal.
2) Your heart will be healthier.
In 2012, Harvard University researchers discovered that sugary drinks can increase chronic heart disease risk. Those who regularly drink soda had a 20% chance of having and dying from a heart attack.
3) You’ll become more alert.
While soda does contain caffeine, which many people turn to in order to feel alert whenever they are sleepy, it can have a negative impact on the brain in the long term. A study discovered that regular consumption of sugar can cause memory problems, along with impaired learning and behavioral problems.
4) You’ll have whiter and stronger teeth.
It is no secret that soda can destroy your teeth. In extreme cases, you could have teeth that are as corroded as meth addicts, particularly if you’re addicted to soda. It contains citric acid that causes tooth enamel erosion. If you stop drinking soda, you can still protect your teeth and even have a whiter smile.
Along with better oral health, halting your soda addiction can make you look younger. You will also lose more weight quicker and your bones will be much stronger. All these reasons are enough to convince you to drop that can of soda and drink water instead.
